Laptop Memory

Laptop memory capabilities have improved by leaps and bounds over the last few years. Many laptops from just 5-10 years ago have less than half of the memory capacity that newer versions enjoy. However, if you have a laptop that is a few years old, upgrades are usually available.

Many manufacturers offer laptop memory upgrades as standard accessories. Because computer technology advances so quickly, being able to upgrade is an essential part of owning a computer. Memory upgrades are relatively easy to install, but it is recommend that you have a professional do the job for you.

Hard drive space and RAM are both essential parts of laptop memory, but the differences between the two can be a bit confusing for the novice. Simply put, think of RAM as a workspace, the bigger the workspace the more you can put on it at one time. Hard drive space acts more like the giant filing cabinet next to the desk that holds vast amounts of information that can be taken out and put on the workspace when needed.
